Basic
01. What is On-page optimization?
On-page optimization simply refers to optimizing web page coding and content in such a way that search engines can easily crawl through it and rank it higher without compromising user accessibility.
02. What is difference between On-page and Off-page optimization?
On-page optimization is concerned with on-page factors like page title, content hierarchy, keyword density, page layout, page URL, etc. which can be controlled directly by modifying its coding and content. While off-page optimization is basically related to link building. In off-page optimization, page is optimized for maximum search engine visibility by increasing its inbound links from relevant and high quality domains.
03. I read that On-page optimization is not so important, is it right?
No, On-page optimization is a major ranking factor. Google's newly updated algorithms clearly suggest that optimizing on-page is now given more importance for higher search results. New algorithmic updates emphasize more on page quality, accessibility and relevance than previous ones. As off-page optimization has higher chances of inorganic link pointers and other black hat SEO practices, clearly future scope of On-page optimization is even greater.

Meta
07. What is a meta tag?
Meta tags are html data tags that describe the page content. Search engines use these tags to know more about the pages to be indexed; the more it understands the page content, the higher the chances of getting top rankings in search results.
08. How meta tags are useful in SEO?
Meta tags help search engine to identify semantics of page data. Meta tags add more information about page content and search crawlers always give more preference to precisely detailed data as it is among dozens of search ranking factors. So adding meta tag means adding precision and reliability in data. It will make your web page more accessible and more interpretable and thus adding it will give higher search visibility, which is central goal of SEO overall.
09. Which meta tags do you use to optimize a web page?
Among all meta tags, the most significantly used are 'title', 'keywords', 'robots' & 'description' meta tags. We use all these tags as per the requirements of a targeted web page.
10. What is robot meta tag?
Search engine spiders or crawls every page of indexed sites by default. But there may be some pages which are to be excluded and for these pages we use robot meta tags.
User experience
11. What does 'accessibility' mean?
In terms of SEO, accessibility means how easily your website can be accessed; this includes proper site structure, page loading time, navigation and many other factors.
12. What does 'user accessibility' include?
User accessibility includes factors like page layout, site search, site loading speed, ease of navigation, etc.
13. What about site loading speed? My website has loads of content.
Though larger content affects site loading speed very much, we can help you minimize loading time by optimizing elements of page. Texts take almost no time to load while hyperlinks, images, audio, video etc. makes loading time longer. But still by compressing images, videos and audios, we help your website to gain minimal loading time.
Image optimization
14. What is Image optimization?
Image optimization is a part of content optimization strategy in which images are optimized using for minimum loading time and maximum search visibility.
15. What is done for Image optimization?
Search engines can't interpret images without properly defined HTML tags. So we define 'alt' tags, image description, image caption, image URL and image link to optimize images for better search visibility. Image compression can also be a part of image optimization process as per site's needs.
16. What is more important for SEO, image or text?
Texts are more important for SEO because search crawlers can't interpret images directly without properly defined HTML tags. While texts are directly readable by crawlers and more content means more data from search engine point of view.
17. But I have seen many sites mostly full of images on search results. Why?
A site full of images doesn't mean that it will never appear in top results. It's just that search engines can interpret only alt tags for images while texts are fully interpretable. So having text in selected area of web page will have more index-able data than the image of same size. So if your site is intended for visual purposes and is having adequate authoritative backlinks, higher user engagement and higher search traffic, then search engines will rank it higher than other websites and place it in top results for related keywords.
Page redirection
18. What is page redirection?
Page redirection is a technique for improving user experience in case user is redirected to an unavailable page. It involves directing a user and search engine to a different URL other than the requested one because the actual requested URL is either moved or deleted.
19. When is it necessary?
Page redirection is necessary when the URL requested by user is either unavailable or incorrect or the requested web page is either moved or deleted.
20. What are common page redirects done in SEO?
Commonly done redirections are 301 & 302.
21. What are they used for?
Here is a brief about page redirection codes. 301 - Moved permanently - useful when you want to replace new URL in place of an old URL. It transfers traffic, search engine bots and link juice to the new one. 302 - Moved temporarily - temporary redirect for missing pages; it can be useful to the sites under maintenance.
22. Will not redirection affect my website quality?
No. redirections instead build reliability as your site will redirect to more relevant and error free webpage making itself more accessible. 302 and 301 redirects may increase site loading time but longer loading time is still far better than no response at all.
23. Will my webpage get changed due to redirection?
No. redirection mostly needs putting few lines of code into the back-end of website i.e. site code. It adds some more lines in coding structure but it will never affect any visual element that relates to user convenience.
24. What is a 'custom error page'?
When a server is unable to find a requested webpage, it throws a 404 error page, which is a normal practice. Building a custom error page will give users, a webpage which could help them move to some other page thereby enhancing the browsing experience. A custom 404 page will include graphical, textual or hyper-textual information in it that will guide users with further possible actions or similar pages on site.
25. But what if I don't have any ready custom error page?
If you don't have any ready custom error page, we can make one for you as per your needs. To know exact cost of custom error page creation, please review our packages with Custom 404 page creation option.
Canonicalization
26. What is canonicalization?
Canonicalization means directing multiple URLs, which search engines may consider different, to a single web source which causes duplicate content issue. For example 'xyz.com', 'www.xyz.com' and 'www.xyz.com/index.html' are different URLs from search engine point of view but intended to fetch the home page of - “http://www.xyz.com”. So, canonicalization helps search engines in determining the most relevant URL.
27. What if my website is not canonicalized?
If your web pages is not canonicalized, search engines will consider all URLs as different webpages with duplicate content & for this duplicate content issue, your site is likely to get penalized from search engine index.
28. Will Canonicalization affect my website quality?
No, in fact, it will add more reliability to your website. It needs adding few lines of code into your website coding and it doesn't affect user experience at all.
Broken link
29. What is broken link?
Broken link is nothing but a link which is not working. A link may be broken due to either missing/expired web page or incorrect URL.
30. What is importance of broken link correction?
Broken links are the links which throw 404 or page not found errors. Search engines don't like broken links as they degrade user experience. Too many broken links decrease the search engine crawl ability.

42. How many keywords per page will be placed?
Optimum number of keywords for any page depends upon number of different factors. We can't give a rule of thumb on how many keywords will be placed on your website pages. Using our years of SEO experience, we will include keywords and key phrases in such a way that it looks genuine and relevant to search engines and doesn't create impression of spammy website. Implementing this strategy by adjusting number of keywords is called keyword density optimization.
44. What if my website has more than 7% keywords?
Generally, to optimize a web page with high keyword density, we prefer to remove as many keywords as possible without affecting content quality. But if it is not acceptable to remove keywords, we can still reduce number of same keywords by implementing word alteration techniques like use of synonyms & grammatical re-arrangements etc. We assure that it won't hurt the content quality of your web page.
Anchor/links
45. Does number of links on my page affects web page quality?
Yes, but not always! Number of links affects the web page quality but it is not necessary that a web page with so many links always gets penalized by Google. For example, pages on en.Wikipedia.org have a great number of links on it but still it has a great authority, reputation, and high search visibility. In most of the cases, having relevant and non-promotional links will not cause site penalization.
46. What are basic link modifications done for SEO?
To make a web page SEO friendly, we check that all links are relevant and correctly placed. We also check the anchor texts used for that links because relevancy is one of the core factors for search engine rankings. It is also inevitable to check that all links are working correctly and not directing to the low quality websites and if so, then they should have “no follow” attribute specified in their anchor tags.
47. What is interlinking?
Interlinking is an SEO friendly approach to redirect users from one page to another page on your website. In interlinking, you put link of one page pointing to another page on your site where it is relevant and useful. For example, if it is an e-book website and there is a page for horror novel “abc”, you can put links of other horror novels like “xyz” and “def” on the same page in similar book suggestions. This will increase user engagement time and increase total page visits.

61. Which are different types of sitemap?
Generally, there are two types of sitemap. XML sitemap and HTML sitemap.
62. Which one is the most preferred between these two?
XML sitemap is the one not usable by users directly. It is built with structured XML markup and it describes list of pages, how the pages are relatively important to one another, update frequency, etc. It will include each and every page desirable to be indexed by search engine. While HTML sitemap is user friendly sitemap which may not include all the webpages necessarily. It helps users to find content on pages of the website. Hence both are important for a website.
W3C validation
63. What is markup validation?
Markup validation of a web page is nothing but grammatical assessment of a web page in terms of whatever computer language it is built upon. Every web page is built in specific computer language like HTML, XHTML, PHP, etc. To be syntactically/grammatically correct in eyes of search engine spiders, it has to comply with standard syntax. Assessing a website for compliance with its markup language and modifying it for making it syntactically correct is called markup validation.
64. What is W3C validation?
W3C is a pioneer organization in standardizing and creating website markup languages. It has created HTML, XHTML , etc. that form base for Internet and websites. To develop a reputable and reliable web presence, a website is submitted to W3C where it is assessed for compliance with Internet standards. This assessment is called W3C validation. On our side, W3C validation package will include site submission and error correction for W3C validation. A W3C validated website means a search engine friendly, error-free structure and hence more possibility of higher search rankings.
65. Does W3C validation mean a good quality website?
No. Quality is not to be confused with W3C validation. For sure, W3C compliance means a genuine site structure but it doesn't mean a high quality website. There are many other criteria to measure website quality, this is just one of them. High quality content, relevancy and reputed back links are other factors which define website quality the most along with W3C validation in terms of search engine rankings.
66. How much do you charge for W3C validation?
W3C validation is included in all the packages of Total SEO and On-page optimization. Please visit these two categories to know about the packages and their respective charges.
Schema markup
67. What is schema Markup?
Schema markup is a structured piece of code used to relate website content with common vocabulary. Bit confusing? Let us expand. Suppose you have a website and you have added your business address in it. Users visiting your website will easily identify that the particular portion of content is your business address as you have written so. But search engines don't understand human language directly. So if you want to convey search engines that specific portion of your webpage is your business address, you will have to highlight that portion of website content by putting it within structured markup used for addresses (this markup will signal search engines that particular lines of texts are conveying a physical address). So whenever a user is searching for similar services in regions around your address, your address and website will be shown up directly among other search results.
68. Will it not add more content on my website and make it slower?
No. Schema markups will not slow down your website anyhow. Markups are not a part of content but they are structured codes used only by search engines to precisely identify meaning of data. So ultimately, schema markup will make website data more depictive without adding content on it.
69. How schema markup is useful for my website?
Schema markup will help search engines to identify portions of website content more precisely as it covers a wide range of objects and attributes. Rather than mere text content, marked-up content is considered as more trusted and comprehensive by search engines. For example, a plain text story about power of love will be considered as less relevant and less detailed than the one marked up for author and user ratings. And hence, search engines will tend to list the latter higher in organic search results. Taking recent search engine algorithm changes into account, schema markup will surely get even more emphasis by search engines in upcoming days.
70. Can schema markup be done in content I already have on my website without altering it?
Yes. Schema markup can be done for the content that you already have upon your website without changing it.
71. Will it cost me high?
No. We offer schema markups at quite affordable rates. For complete details please review our packages in On-page optimization section.
